Eriospermum flabellatum is a rare species which only occurs in the area between Laingsburg and Barrydale.

The tuber has one single erect leaf with several branching outgrowths. The leaf enations and and small inflorescence are unique to the species (except Eriospermum bowieanum).

The growing period is in winter and the flowering time in autumn from March to April.
