Haworthia modesta is found around Potberg en Kathoek south of Swellendam in coastal limestone. Although regarded as Haworthia variegata var. modesta by some authors, the relationship maybe unstable and subject to change.

It is a small proliferous species with some variegation and translucence of the leaves.
