Distribution: Africa: South Africa: Western Cape: Northern Cape: Eastern Cape:

Trachyandra revoluta has a wide distribution from the Richtersveld to the Eastern Cape.

It is a winter growing geophyte with succulent oddly twisted leaves and thickened rhizomes.

The small white flowers are rather short lived.

The twisted leaves vary much between individual plants. I have found many plants early in the growing season with almost straight leaves while others are exceptionally twisted. Later in the season, growing in full sunlight, many plants end up with twists in the leaves that remain pointing upwards while others go in all directions. Good light is however essential for this phenomena.
