Strumaria spiralis occurs on rocky outcrops in the Western Cape from the Cape Peninsula to Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo. A unique feature of the species is the coiled base of the stem of the inflorescense, enabling it to move freely in the wind. The following images were taken north of Oudtshoorn where the plants were found flowering in late May. |
