Distribution: | Africa: South Africa: Western Cape: Eastern Cape: |
The plants have a large swollen stem which is mostly subterranean with branches protruding above ground. When not in flower the plants are almost identical to http://soilandroots.com/desert-plants/Pachypodium/succulentum/pachypodium-succulentum.html. Considering their habitats overlap it is very difficult to tell them apart when not in flower. Pachypodium bispinosum has a wider corolla tube and shorter rounded petals than P succulentum. Flowering occurs in late summer. |
