I previously accepted these bulbs to be Ledebouria ovalifolia, but the leaf shape and petioles do not seem to fit that species. Some of the floral characteristics do seem to fit Ledebouria ovalifolia however. In nature the plants lose their leaves in summer but in cultivation they remain more or less evergreen. The plants grow in shale south west of Oudtshoorn and some of the bulbs have very attractive foliage. |
