Kniphofia sarmentosa is found near streams in parts of the western Great Karoo including the Roggeveld. This species is also associated with fairly high altitudes. Although the plants normally grow near wet places, the colonies can sometimes spread to nearby drier territory. The bulbs have strap-shaped leaves and reddish flowers, becoming buff with exserted anthers. Reference: http://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/Kniphofia, |
