The identification was done by Compton Herbarium in Cape Town. The specimens photographed are from between Matjiesfontein and Sutherland. The hairs on the leaves in this particular case give a striated impression. The style is longer than the anthers and curved sideways. The bulbs grow in winter and the flowering time images were taken in November. The fruit with red roundish seeds appear in April. The seeds germinate unaided soon after the fruit is ripe and should be planted in a sandy soil. |
