Astroloba spiralis is widely distributed in the Little Karoo. There is some variation in the spiral arrangement of the leaves.



As is often with the genus Astroloba, old plants can look unkempt due to the dying off of the shoots.

When exposed to the sun the plants often attain a yellow-brown colour when exposed to the sun. An old plant with dead branches - typical of the genus. A plant from near Oudtshoorn lacking the spiral leaf arrangement. A plant near Heimersrivier south of Oudtshoorn.
